Introducing the author

Guillaume Barucq is a 30-year-old French ‘surf doctor’. Eversince he was a child, he's been surfing the "Grande Plage" in Biarritz. He's been over all the spots in the Basque country, from Guéthary to Mundaka, and he has also taken several surfing trips. Mexico, Senegal, Morocco, Costa Rica and the islands of Bali and Réunion were some of the places that he had a chance to discover with a board under his arm.

He has finished his medical studies with a Ph.D. on surfing-related pathologies. This work defended at the University Victor Segalen of Bordeaux is based on a study of patients suffering from surfing accidents admitted to Emergency Rooms on the Basque Coast during summer 2006.

Thanks to his medical science and to his knowledge of surfing, he provides us with the preventive advice that he has drawn from his experience out in the field, at his own expense sometimes...
